John Broadwood and Sons Cottage Pianoforte, London 1836
English Cottage Fortepiano made by John Broadwood and Sons in London
c1836. The case is made in mahogany, the front is covered with silk
and two candle holders, ivory and ebony keyboard, action is in very
good condition, original cloth-covered hammers. The soundboard and
bridge are in excellent condition. Original tuning pins (small crack
in the wrestplank at nine tuning pins but with no effect on holding
the tuning) and double straight strung.
The serial number of the instrument is 3749 and it is handwritten
signed with "G. D." at the wrestplank. One pedal for controlling
una corda.
This is an early Cottage Fortepiano made in elegant Regency Style
with a gorgeous sound.
