Ignace Pleyel, Paris 1845 - 1853
Restored Fortepiano
made by Ignace Pleyel in Paris 1845 - 1853. This grand piano is similar
to the instruments owned and played by Frédéric Chopin.
The instrument is in excellent playing condition and was professionally
restored with ancient materials and techniques.
The case is made in mahogany, ivory keyboard, four metal bars in the
inside, original english action with escapement, original tuning pins,
wrestplank, bridge and soundboard. The instrument is complete with
tuning wrench and key to lock up the lid. The bass strings are original,
the remain strings are made by Malcolm Rose in England. Two pedals
controlling dampers and due corde. On the action is a handwritten
signature with pencil. The nameboard is decorated with brass inlay
stringing and is signed with:
"Brevet D' Invention. S. G. D. G. Ignace Pleyel & Comp. Paris."
This fortepiano is
a characteristic french elegant instrument of the romantic period.

assembled for taking the photos.
