Christopher Ganer, London ca. 1785

Early square piano made by Christopher Ganer in London around 1785 in unrestored condition. Christopher Ganer was one of the most highly-regarded makers of fortepianos and harps in the 18th Century.
The case and original trestle stand (with music shelf) are made in mahogany with inlays

The nameboard is signed with:
"Christopher Ganer
Grand and Small Forte-Piano and Harp Maker
Broad Street Golden Square
London."


The keyboard is made in ivory, original leather on the hammers, one small crack in the soundboard (original note markings on the soundboard), strings and tuning pins are missing (5 tuning pins are preserved), wrestplank and bridge are in very good condition.
The instrument comes with the rare "second action" and has 2 handstops controlling the buff stop and dampers
