J. C. Müllner, Wien ca. 1830
Grand fortepiano made by J. C. Müllner in Vienna. This instrument
was build around 1830 and is in good unrestored original condition.
The case is made in walnut and has the triple bentside shape. The
keyboard coverings are made from bone, viennese action with original
leather coverings on the hammer, straight strung with mostly original
strings, treble strung, no metal braces, original tuning pins. The
wrestplank, bridge and soundboard are in excellent condition (no cracks).
The wrestplank is marked with the serial number 1255.
The legs are not original (probably columns in empire style). The
instrument has 6 pedals (original lyre is lost) with janissary (lost)
and drum (present).
This is a very rare and fine example of an early viennese grand fortepiano
and probably one of the first grand pianos made by Müllner.
Dimensions: Length: 242 cm, Width: 139 cm
Compass: 6 octaves plus sixth, CC - a4, viennese action, 6 pedals.
