This fortepiano was played by the famous composer and pianist Franz
Liszt and is signed by him.
The instrument was made by Ernst Irmler in Leipzig (Germany) between
1852 and 1854 and is in full playable original condition. The original
leather is still on the hammers the in good condition. There are three
metall bars in the inside which are painted with flowered ornaments
in black enamel varnish - no iron frame!
The fortepiano has two pedals (dampers and una corda).
Serial number is 2464. There is an identical instrument in the collection
of Kloster Michaelstein in Blankenburg but with a higher serial number.
This fortepiano is one of the eldest known instruments made by Ernst
Irmler. Under the soundboard is the handwritten signature of Franz
Liszt: "F. Liszt. 1856."
This fortepiano is an extremely rare and an especial instrument of
the romantic period - played and signed by Franz Liszt.
